Just Another Update

So we spent the weekend in Houston with my cousin and her husband for Robert's birthday. We went to a Dodgers/Astros game and got to see the boys in blue take another win. That was lots of fun. Then we spent Saturday touring around Houston, and we got to see the new house they just built. It's so beautiful and they're definitely going to enjoy it. We had dinner at a Brazilian steakhouse Saturday night which is always fun. Nothing like making yourself sick on way too much excellent food! Then we flew home Sunday morning, which was Robert's actual birthday, so we could spend the day with our family. We had a barbeque cookout at his mom's house Sunday night with the whole family, which was lots of fun. His mom got him a new bottle of his favorite Bourbon, Pappy Van Winkle, which is quite expensive. I got him his first bottle for his 30th birthday, which he made last a whole year. He drank the last glass on his 31st birthday, and hasn't had any since. So she got him a new bottle this year. Dodgers and Pappy in the same weekend - he's one happy 32-year-old. On a pitiful note, Caroline was sick the whole time we were gone. It breaks my heart when she's sick and I'm not there to hold her, even though she was with my mom. I know she was well taken care of, but it's just not the same. She threw up Friday afternoon because she got fever. Ever since, she's just had a dull fever and major head cold. She coughed ALL night last night, even with 2 doses of medicine throughout the night. She is still puny today, which makes day 4, so I hope we're nearing the end of it. Apparently this junk is going around, so everyone beware. I hope I don't get it. I hate being sick. But I hate her being sick even more. On a positive note, I think I'm going to try to find a small marathon to sign up for, to force my butt onto the exercise path. I do really good for a couple of weeks and then I just get lazy about it. So I'm hoping signing up for something like that will give me a more tangible goal that I can work for. Dieting is just useless for me. I like food. Period. And I'm going to eat it. I have always done much better by incorporating exercise into my regular eating habits because exercise makes you want to eat better anyway. I don't want to exist on some diet of dessert flavored shakes or cardboard frozen dinners the size of a deck of cards. I'd rather control my portions of regular food and then exercise. Calories in, calories out. Common sense. So we'll see. If anyone knows of something nearby that's happening in a couple of months, let me know. This is a huge step for me, considering that I previously only ran if someone was chasing me. :-)
