Just Another Update

So, since I had planned and made my goal to run in the marathon at our church, I did it. I didn't train quite like I should have. An out of town friend of ours came to visit that weekend, so I was tempted to just not go. But since I had done the work and told myself I was going to do it, I went anyway. And it was fun! I'm really glad that I signed up to do it. Robert ran with me and we had different paces at different times. He hadn't really trained much at all, so he was just there to support me. It was a 4 mile walk/run, and can I just say that 4 miles is a long way! That may seem funny to some of you who do 18 mile marathons and run the whole way. But geez! I don't see how people do that! I do well to run for a mile straight. Then I have to walk a while before I can run again. Which I know is the best way to train to run long distances - intervals. I think that's the theory behind the whole "Couch to 5K" trend. Run a bit, walk a bit, until you can do it. So I just did the best I could, drank my water, paced myself, and I made it! Robert and I caught back up together, and finished in 51 minutes on the dot. That's about a 12 minute and 45 second mile, which I guess isn't too bad for a newbie. So I've done it. My first marathon. And while I did enjoy it, I'm not sure I'll be signing up for one every other weekend or anything. I've been sleepy ever since....... So we've been moving my sister and her kids out of their house this week. They've been living with us for almost 2 months and are going to stay for a while. Which actually works out great for several reasons. So we're happy to have them with us for a while. I'm going to start keeping a new baby next week. Since my sweet Bailey is moving away, I had to find another one. Bailey's mom actually recommended me to a friend of hers and that's who I'll be keeping. It's a little boy, so that will definitely be different for me! But I'm looking forward to it. We're also taking another little beach trip in a couple of weeks with Robert's family, so we still have a little summer left. It's gone by so fast already! I can't believe it's halfway over. Before we know it, I'll be waking my baby up to go to preschool........ ugh! Where has the time gone?? Seems like yesterday I was rocking her to sleep in our house in Fairhope. I love the little girl she has turned out to be. She has brought so much joy to our lives and I can't wait to watch her continue to grow. Our lives are definitely different since we had her, but I wouldn't change it or trade it for anything in the world.
