Well, Hello World!

So it's been quite a while.  I haven't blogged much recently because I've come to the conclusion in my "old" age that other people's problems or stupidity are just not worth me getting upset about.  So I'm trying very hard to be more positive about all aspects of life and to see the good in situations instead of the negative.  And so far I'm doing quite well.  However, there are occasions that I find myself needing a little rant every now and then.  My sweet husband gets enough of my ranting so it's nice to sometimes just get it all out on here.  :-)  So enjoy my rambling....... or don't.  It's your choice, but it's my blog, so read at your own risk.  If you have a different opinion, go write your own blog.  ~LA~

So first of all, let me just give my piece on Kendall Jones, the cutesy cheerleader/African animal hunter.  Ok people.  Let's be realistic.  Do you REALLY think that someone like her, an obviously skilled/experienced hunter, is going to post photographs of herself doing something that is not 100% legal wherever she is?  I mean really? "Hey Facebook, check out the giant lion I just killed! Oh, but don't tell anybody cuz it's illegal!"   NOPE.  So wherever she is going in Africa is obviously a location that permits the hunting of these animals.  Now, do I like the picture of the pretty lion dead in her hands? Do I enjoy seeing her snuggle dead cheetahs? No, its kinda sad to me.  But that's only because we, as Americans, have an entirely different view of these animals than those indigenous to Africa.  We see them as rare, beautiful, majestic animals that deserve protection and admiration.  But the folks over in Africa see them the same way we Mississippi folk see the white-tailed deer.  They're just animals to them.  And I'm quite sure in some places, there are way too many of them and they need to be hunted within certain limitations to control the population so they don't overrun their habitats.  JUST LIKE DEER.  She recently hunted an elephant and gave all the meat to the people in the nearby village who never get meat. The pic of her with the already endangered White Rhino, as she plainly states, is not a dead rhino.  He was tranquilized for studying and treating an injury by the PROFESSIONAL she is quite obviously traveling with.  She just gets a thrill out of hunting large game, as do MANY other sportsmen out there, as well as being concerned with animal conservation.  So if you'd get off your sentimental high horses and do your research on her, you'd see that you should just go back to eating your deer sausage and leave the girl alone.
Ok, so the city of Clinton has created a new branding video to promote our community.  It really is a great video.  The song is wonderful, the "concept" is great, etc.  But the clap.  Oh, the clap.  I just can't handle the clap.  Whatever production company did the sound editing, etc. should be totally embarrassed.  Anyone at that level of "professional" should know better than to record a live clap and then attempt to put studio recorded music along with it.  The musician inside of me cringes the entire time...... I just cannot handle it.  Production Company - I'm quite sure our city paid you good money and you owe us better.  Do your job.
Pretentious people piss me off.  That is all I'll say about that.
I love summer.  I love being home with my sweet little family and spending all of my time with them.  I love getting to go to lunch with my mom and go to the movies in the middle of the day.  I love summer salads, fruity grown-up drinks, and sleeping until 10 am.  I love playing UNO 15 times in a row and then snuggling on the couch to watch TV with my girl.  I love staying up late watching a grown-up movie with my boy.   I love swimming and lounging and napping.  Its just all around great fun.  And I think it should be longer...... But it never does.  Its over before you know it.  So here's to enjoying the last few weeks of summer!
