The past 4 weeks have been quite busy for the Allen crew. We've been in Clinton for the past 3 1/2 weeks, with one short return to Fairhope for Caroline's doctor's visit. The first week we were there was mostly just for visiting those we hadn't seen since right after she was born. The next week, Robert helped his brother move to Chicago for a 14 month internship. He and his mother were gone for 5 days on that adventure. Driving to and from Chicago is definitely a tiring trip! They returned on Wednesday and then we had to turn right around on Thursday and come back to Fairhope for Caroline's 2 month check up. Everything was great - she weighed 10 lbs. 15 oz. and was 23 inches long. But she had to get 4 shots - 2 in each thigh. It was absolutely the most pitiful, heartbreaking thing I have ever watched in my life. After she finally quit screaming and the tears slowed down - I cried. Yes, I admit it - I cried. It was terrible! We went right back to Clinton after her appointment.
The next day, our family from Picayune all came to Clinton. We had Madeline's birthday party Saturday, Aunt Vel and Uncle Fred's 60th anniversary celebration Saturday night, and on Sunday, we had Caroline baptized at First Methodist in Clinton. So many of our family members were able to attend her baptism and we really appreciated everyone being there for such a special occasion.
This year the high school did "Grease" for the summer musical and Robert ended up playing in the pit. Their performances were on the 12th, 13th, and 14th. As usual, they all did a great job.
June 14th was our 5-year anniversary. Robert was really sweet and took me to the Hilton where we went on our wedding night and he made dinner for me of foods that were served at our wedding reception. Then Sunday was his first Father's Day! We really had a great time during our visit to Clinton. We were supposed to come back that afternoon but decided to stay until Tuesday. We finally got back this afternoon around 5:00 and it was so nice to be home. We had a wonderful time getting to see everyone back home, though. It definitely reminded us that we would love to be able to live there again one day, especially for Caroline's sake. Having so many people around all the time who love her so much would be wonderful. We took a lot of great pictures during our visit, so check out Shutterfly for the latest shots!
