4 months old
Well we went to the doctor today for her 4 month check up. (Actually she's 4 1/2 months, but who's counting?) She weighs 13 lbs. and 14 oz. (45th percentile) and is 25 inches long (65th percentile). Her head was 16 inches around which was the 30th percentile, so apparently she has a little head. Which I guess is better than a huge melon head. Ha! So she's all healthy and wonderful. She had to get 4 shots again and was, of course, pitiful. But fortunately this time I didn't cry with her. I was a big girl. But it still broke my heart. I can't stand that true cry of pain. The mad cry I can deal with, the hungry cry I can easily fix, but the painful cry is just awful. She's discovered her rabbit, which I named Flops b/c it's the most floppy, squishy animal I've ever seen, and she absolutely LOVES it. Every time she sees it she grins and talks and squeals at it. She grabs it by the face and crams it in her mouth b/c it's so soft. She is putting everything in her mouth these days. She's also mastered the art of holding both feet at the same time. That makes for some great rolling around on the floor. She still likes the jungle gym but gets bored with it faster these days. She's much more observant of her surroundings and wants to see what's going on in the room. She stayed with her first babysitter last Saturday night. Our friends, Shirley and Roy, kept her while we went to dinner with some other friends. She was there for about 3 hours and they said she was perfectly happy the whole time. And I did surprisingly well with it being her first time away from me or another family member. They're really sweet and I knew she was well taken care of. She still talks up a storm every day. I feel like that lady on the cell phone commercial with the daughter that talks constantly, so she finally gets her a phone to call her friends. That's going to be me one day, I'm afraid.... but I'm not tired of it yet. It's still really cute. She still sleeps all night and she has stopped waking up for her pacifier (for now), which is great for me. Sleeping from 11:30 p.m. to 7 or 8 a.m. is definitely wonderful. Sadly, we missed her first "roll over" experience b/c she did it in her crib before we knew she was awake. Robert went in to get her a few mornings ago when we heard her talking and she had rolled over. But every night she scoots herself crooked in her bed so she had the side of the crib to push against. She still can't roll over by herself just in an open space on the floor. So I guess it was sort of an accidental roll over. But I have the video camera opened and ready at all times in case she decides to do it for real. She's definitely on the verge.... I'm sure that will be our next bit of news. Until then, check out shutterfly for some more cute pics!
