So I haven't posted in a long time, so here's a bunch of random thoughts I've compiled in my brain over the past couple of months.
1) I love being crafty. I just wish I had the extra time to do home projects. I've done a few things recently that have turned out great. It just took way too long trying to fit it in between the daily things that go on. Laundry, cleaning, cooking, children, etc just take up lots of time. Maybe when Caroline starts preschool I'll have a few extra hours to do some things. Until then, my cabinets might just have to remain two-toned......
2)Do you ever have days when you want to rake out a room and just start over? That's how I feel about my office space. I absolutely H.A.T.E. it. I tried to make it more "officy" but it just didn't work. I currently work in what is technically the dining room and because of the chandelier, I don't have a choice in desk placement unless I want to duck under the fixture every time I walk through the room. It's just not a flexible space. So I'm stuck with what I've got for now. And while it's not ideal, it'll just have to do.
3) I really hate politics. I'm one of those people who just SO doesn't care one way or the other. I think they're all a bunch of crooks and criminals who lie, cheat, and avoid their duties just so they don't piss off the voters, which only stands to piss them off more. I am generally conservative, but I think I have some views that would be seen as liberal (and probably piss someone off). But I ultimately don't care one way or the other if a Republican or Democrat becomes the next president. They've all proven to be crappy no matter what party they're from. They all blame the previous term for the problems they "inherited" and none of them actually have a plan to fix anything. So their campaigns are all fabricated and lame and usually annoying. "Yes we can!" Blah, blah, blah. Annoying. It disturbs me that our president's rally cry for the nation was exactly the same as Bob the Builder. I digress......
4) I don't have a problem with homosexual people. I just don't. (see? liberal view) You can say that's anti-Christian, but I think just the opposite. I accept people for who they are, for the way God made them. Period. I saw a video once that was in support of the gay community that basically asked a bunch of heterosexuals this question: "When did you decide to become heterosexual?" To which they all answered, "I didn't decide, I was just born that way." Weeelllll....... do you think gay people "decide" to be gay? I don't. I think most of them are born that way. Are there attention-seeking teens out there who probably profess homosexuality to seek a reaction? Yes, I'm quite certain there are. But I really believe homosexuals are born with their sexual orientation the same way I was. Now, you say "well the Bible says its wrong." Yes, it does. But the bible also says that a woman who is on her period should not be allowed to sleep in the bed with her husband and that he shouldn't touch her because she is unclean. I'd like to see men nowadays tell women to take a hike from the bed during that time.... ha! The Bible is obviously a wonderful book and should be the daily guide for our lives, but there are lots of things in it that are way too outdated to be practical in today's world. Now, think about babies who are born non-gendered or they have both sexual organs, almost fully developed. And their parents have to pick. So what if they picked wrong? While I believe it all starts with God, I also believe that biology and science play a large role in how we're made. Is it possible that people born homosexual were biologically/genetically/chemically/whatever given too much male or female hormone of the opposite sex? It would make sense as to why we say lesbians are "butch" and gays are "sissy." What if that's the case? What if it's some sort of imperfection in God's master blueprint for humans that science changes. I'm not a scientist, but the logic is there. And so, let's say that's the case. Let's say they're born that way, and since the Bible says it's wrong, we assume God wouldn't condone, and therefore, it's a genetic malfunctiion. They'd be no different than the kid who is born with a deformed hand or foot. The kid who's born with a learning disability. The kid who's born with the genes to be obese. The one born with autism. Or the kid who's born and 3 years later the cells mutate and he gets cancer in his brain. It's just the way God chose to make him. So does that mean that all "imperfect" people should not be allowed to be in churches and Christian communities because they're not "perfect" the way we think humans should be? Any other physical difference in humans is accepted, and actually protected, with laws about treating them with fairness and equality. So how come Christians can't accept the way God made homosexuals? Just seems kinda two-faced and un-Christian to me.
5) James Patterson novels are 100% pure intoxication. I canNOT put them down. It's literally addicting and I'm losing sleep over these darn things. They are a bit disturbing at times, and I'll admit, are making me a little paranoid about serial killers on the loose. I find myself checking my locks more frequently. But they are so freakin' good. He is obviously an excellent writer, holding your attention, throwing a curve at just the right moment. They're like a roller coaster. Just when you get settled back down over the last surprise and the story starts to level out, you feel a "stopping point" coming on, another one comes at you and I physically cannot stop reading. Can. Not. Stop. James Patterson, please stop writing so well...... my sleep patterns are suffering greatly. Thanks.
6) I've learned that carrying anger and hurt in your heart only does one thing: hurts your heart. It doesn't change things, change people. Sometimes letting the anger go, even though the source of anger is still there, is just better and easier, at least for my heart. Maybe eliminating the source would be smarter, but that wouldn't make my heart hurt any less either. So sometimes you just have to choose to suck it up and get over it. Move on. Or else it just hurts.....
7) I like to talk. Have you noticed? I think I could talk all day. And I think Caroline inherited that trait. We have great conversations and I'm lucky she's so smart. It's much easier than talking to most 3 year olds. Most other kids don't have the analytical ability that she has and it makes for much better convos. Although sometimes it makes for convos where I want to spank her into next week. Oh well! Can't have it both ways.
I'll stop talking now. Until next time.......
