Flat Stanley Visits Caroline

This week Hannah sent Flat Stanley to visit us in Fairhope. We had a great time taking him on adventures. We went to Target, Papa's Pizza, Caroline's doctor, the Fairhope Fountain, and down to the water at the Bay. We took pictures of our adventures so you'll have to check them out. Then we wrote Hannah a letter and mailed the pictures back to her at Northside. Thanks for sending him to visit us Hannah!! We had a blast!
Caroline is doing great so far. She is such a sweet baby and we haven't had any trouble with her. Our biggest problem right now is deciding which outfit to wear every day! Sad, isn't it? But we feel really blessed that she is so healthy and doing so well. During the day, she sleeps most of the time. She does have a couple of hours where she'll wake up and "talk" to us. She's starting to really respond when you get close to her face and talk to her. She seems to really recognize me and Robert. Her eyes light up and she almost seems to smile when we talk to her. She rarely cries and only starts to fuss when she's getting hungry or needs a diaper change. She definitely does not like to be wet and she is happy to let you know about it. Her night time habits are great too. She usually eats around 11:30 or 12 every night and then sleeps until 5 or 5:30 before she wants to eat again. If she keeps that up, we'll be happy parents because 5 consecutive hours of sleep this early in her life is pretty much unheard of according to everyone we've talked to. Most people seem to be really shocked when they hear that. So everyone say a prayer that she keeps it up!
The past 2 weeks we've had our moms here helping us and it has been so wonderful! Lyda Sue was here last week and GranMary is here this week. It's been so nice having someone here to help with cleaning, dinner, etc. , but mostly to take turns sleeping with Caroline. While 5 hours of consecutive sleep is great for a newborn, it's definitely not what I'm used to! So it's been nice for Robert and I to actually get a full night of restful sleep. Childbirth was a relatively quick process for me, but it was still the most physically tiring 7 hours of my life! Not to mention the last few months of carrying around all that extra weight. I definitely wouldn't be feeling as well as I do without having had both of them here to help. Thank you Mom and Mary!!!
We're heading to Clinton this weekend for the Attache Spring Revue, so Caroline will have her first overnight excursion! She even has cute luggage! Again - sad, I know......... :-)
