Christmas and more

What a month! Well first let me update you on the medical issues - no more ear infection, so no tubes yet! The medicine finally got rid of all the fluid, so we're still keeping our fingers crossed that it doesn't come back. The eye doctor said her eyes are completely fine. When the bridge of her nose grows and becomes more pronounced, it will do away with the "crossing" that I'm seeing in pictures. And he said until then, stop taking pictures from an angle. Ha! So we're glad to know she's all healthy. AND --- She can crawl! She finally took her first "steps" the day before we left town for the holidays. She's so cute when she does it. She looks like a wind up toy. And just yesterday, she got her first tooth! It's on the bottom and is barely poking through, but it's there! So I'm sure more will be popping up soon.
The holidays were a whirlwind. First we took a week long trip to Chicago to visit Uncle Scott. We stayed with him in his apartment - tight squeeze- and had a blast! It was -5 degrees and the wind chill was -30 degrees! HOLY CRAP! I've never been that cold in my entire life! The ride home was quite interesting as well. Scott rode back with us for Christmas, which meant that 5 of us and all of our stuff had to pile up into my car, a Chrysler Pacifica. While it's a roomy car, it's not a U-Haul. We looked like a bunch of clowns in a Volkswagen. But it was an adventure and we had a great time.
When we returned from Chicago we spent the week of Christmas just hanging out with everyone. Caroline absolutely loved opening all the presents and Santa Claus was very good to her. New Year's Eve was pretty uneventful because on New Year's Day my entire family (mom's side) trekked to Oklahoma for my cousin, Sara's, wedding. I was a bridesmaid along with 3 of her other friends. We had a really great time getting to visit with family that we don't get to see very often. The wedding and reception were beautiful and we had a lot of fun.
So we're finally back in Fairhope after 3 weeks away. Let me tell you, it is a rather difficult task to pack for almost 3 weeks for yourself and a baby for 3 different climates. Imagine the laundry pile.... So now I'll spend the week putting away Christmas decorations and all the new toys we brought home. My dining room is being turned into a playroom, so it's official: Caroline rules the roost.
