Today is Caroline's 6 month "birthday"! And the poor baby had to go to the doctor today. Her 6 month check up went well. She weighs 15 lbs. 5 oz. which is the 35th percentile. She is 26 1/4 inches long which is the 70th percentile. Her head is still little too. It's 16 1/2 inches which is only the 30th percentile. So basically she's a string bean right now. She had to get only 3 shots this time, one of which was the flu shot, and one oral vaccine. She cried, of course, but she did good. Last night she was acting a little sick and cranky. She was gagging like she had mucus in her throat and her nose was running. I knew something was wrong but wasn't sure what. When the doctor checked her ears today, she said she had some fluid behind her left ear which was the beginning of an ear infection. Fortunately we caught it before it was full blown, so we've started an antibiotic today. Hopefully it won't ever get too bad for her. Those hurt so bad!
She's rolling all over the place and sits up like she's been doing it forever. Occasionally she'll still fall over if she leans too far forward or sideways to get a toy. She's not quite that mobile yet. But she's still babbling like crazy and her favorite phrase is "daah, daah, daah". So, of course, Robert likes to think she's talking to him! But unfortunately she's not quite there yet. Though it's fun for me because I can say "Who's the crazy one, mommy or daddy?" and she replies "daah, daah...." Ha! She's starting to learn how to clap her hands. I've gotten her to flatten them out when I clap them together. She used to just keep them in fists. And she tries to do it on her own but just ends up slapping her lap. But she's trying!
She went to her first band competition last Saturday. We traveled to Alexander City, AL on a charter bus and she was great! She slept most of the way. When we got there she stayed in her stroller for a long time. Fortunately, her stroller fit in the bleachers (just barely!) and she was able to sit and play all day. It was warm, but the shade finally came and it was pleasant for the rest of the day. She was such a good baby! I had GranMary there to help me which was great. All the kids loved talking to her and holding her. Robert's band did GREAT! They received all 1's which is the highest score. They were also received Best in Class (their size group), Best Overall (out of everyone!) Colorguard, Best Overall Pit/Percussion, and they were 3rd in marching and 4th in music out of all the other bands. That is awesome! There were 5 other bands there that were in the higher category, so beating them was quite an accomplishment. He and Will are doing such a great job with these kids here. They make improvements every year. We are proud of Daddy!! Well that's it from the Allen Crew. No new pictures to share just yet. I'm waiting for a good batch before I post more. Sorry, Papoo! Love to everyone!
