God is good!
Well, Jack had his 2nd surgery today. Apparently the radiation either didn't get all of the cancer, or it grew back, so something had to be done. The only option was to go in and remove what was left. Because the cancer is on the motor strip of his brain, there was the possibility that when the cells were removed that part of the brain tissue would have to come out too. This could cause physical damage and possible paralysis. However, the doctor performing the surgery felt fairly optimistic that little to no damage would be caused by the surgery. We all know that doctors are brilliant at what they do, and I'm positive that his surgeon is quite skilled at his craft. However, post-surgery, the report is this: The cancer cells were mostly involved in the brain lining, not actual brain tissue. He removed ALL of the cancer that he could see and he believes that NO damage was caused at all. Hallelujah, Praise the Lord! That can only be a product of all our prayers and all the prayer "warriors" we have out there who are lifting Jack up every minute of the day. And when that many people pray, God listens. He listened, and he's healing our little boy, slowly but surely. Now our prayers have to be that this cancer does NOT return anywhere in his body. That is going to be years and years of prayers, but we're up to the task. Someone told me today that Jack's Caring Bridge site had over 1,000 hits in the past 24 hours. That is AMAZING to me! It's wonderful to see how people's love and compassion pour out on that page. I never imagined when I set it up that it would reach so many people. But I firmly believe that all those prayers from all those people are reaching God. And that we have plenty of people to pray for the next twenty years until he is officially in the clear. So thank you to all of you who have sent up even a single prayer in Jack's name. You have made a difference in his life and we are all eternally grateful.
